Challenge:The customer required a Servo Power Unit that would attach to their existing cylinders and that needed several special features:
- Required to provide 85,000 lbf @ 7 inches/sec. Approximately 130 HP
- Ability to manually operate the cylinder in the event of a power outage
- Ability to service one or more Servo Power Units while keeping the system in operation
- Synchronized speed across both of the 5-SPU banks
Solution:A special configuration of Kyntronics Servo Power Unit was provided that included:
- Two – 5-Servo Power Unit banks
- Control Panel with 10 servo drives to operate the two 5-SPU banks
- Control Panel with HMI operator Interface
- Servo drive and HMI software developed by Kyntronics
- Manual back-up power unit on each 5-SPU bank for manual operation in the event of power loss
- Capability to service one or more Servo Power Units without taking the system out of service
- Synchronized speed across each of the 5-SPU banks
