Sensors detect, measure, analyze, and process various changes that occur on production sites, such as changes in position, length, height, displacement, and appearance. They also contribute to predicting and preventing future events.

Photoelectric Sensors
Photoelectric sensors use light and photo-optics to detect workpieces in manufacturing. Valin provides many varieties of photoelectric sensors including diffuse-reflective, through-beam, and retro-reflective. Many of the models can be set to detect objects at specific distances. Some models have their amplifiers built in whereas others are separate.

- Autonics BS4 Series Photomicro Sensors
- Autonics BS3 Series Photomicro Sensors

Proximity Sensors
Proximity Sensors are available in models using high-frequency oscillation to detect ferrous and non-ferrous metal objects and in capacitive models to detect non-metal objects. Models are available with environment resistance, heat resistance, resistance to chemicals, and resistance to water.

- Proximity Sensors for Washdown Environments
- Inductive Washdown Sensors with Condition Monitoring
- Proximity Switches that Function like Limit Switches

Fiber Optic Sensors and Amplifiers
Fiber optic sensors use a fiber cable to transmit and receive light used for sensing in a remotely mounted amplifier. This allows the sensing tip to be in small areas or environments that may damage normal sensors, such as areas with high temperature or moisture.

Measurement Sensors
These Sensors can be used to measure distances and heights. A wide variety of models is available, including Laser Sensors, LED Sensors, Ultrasonic Sensors, Contact Sensors, Eddy Current Sensors, and more.

Light Curtains and Area Sensors
Area Sensors are Multi-beam Through-beam Sensors used to sense wide areas. The detection width of the sensor can be selected according to the application.

Ultrasonic Sensors
Ultrasonic waves are used to enable stable detection of transparent objects, such as transparent films, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and plate glass, using Through-beam or Reflective sensors.

Encoders
Encoders and other feedback devices can be used on motors and other mechanics to provide position and velocity information back to the controls or operator. There is a wide variety of signals and communication protocols, mechanical interfaces, and applications. They can be linear, rotary, and ring encoders which are essentially linear encoders bent into rings.
