IIoT Gateways & Data Collection
Where PLCs excel at making decisions based on sensors and data, IIoT Gateways excel at aggregating sensor data and passing it on to other sources (i.e. computers, databases, SCADA systems, the Cloud, cellphones, etc.), with various methods (i.e. Modbus, MQTT, Ethernet TCP/IP, JSON, etc.). The gateways may even have some logic capabilities, but are generally not designed for high-speed machine or process control like PLCs are. Other products specialize in collecting data as modern flavors of the more traditional data loggers. Modern data collectors have modern capabilities that, especially when combined with the functionalities of the gateways, make collecting data from existing systems, passing it on, and even creating alarms based on conditions, much easier than re-programming the existing controls.

Managed Ethernet Switches

Remote Secure Routers

Advantech distributed remote I/O modules are categorized into two families, Ethernet I/O (ADAM-6000 series) and RS-485 I/O (ADAM-4000 series), which are subdivided into Analog I/O and Digital I/O modules.
