Enerdoor recently released a new Passive Harmonic Filter: the FINHRM5C. If you are using the FINHRM5, then you’ll love this newer version. This filter is UL approved and is the most advanced and innovative passive harmonic filter available ensuring IEEE-519 compliance, reducing Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to <5%, and being one of the smallest in the market with its two stages of inductance being stacked on top of each other.
Devices such as variable frequency drives, servo drives, LED light drivers and other devices that rectify AC to DC can generate harmonic distortion. Limiting the distortion under a certain level is important in order to reduce effects on other equipment in a facility. Line Reactors and Passive Harmonic Filters are recommended for single drive applications and sized by the total current. Active Harmonic Filters work in parallel and compensate current for single or multiple load applications operating under varied loads.
