Accounts Payable Manager
North Salt Lake, UT
Thomas Soe is a hardworking and dedicated employee of Valin Corporation’s Accounting Department. Thomas holds many significant responsibilities as the Accounts Payable Manager. He manages a full cycle of Accounts Payable, the Certify Travel and Expense application, Auto/Mileage Reimbursement program, DataServ AP Invoice application, company credit card expenses and statements, and maintains the vendor database. In addition to maintaining the expense tracking tools, Thomas supervises and trains his team to ensure transactions are processed timely and accurately. He also monitors Valin’s early payment discount opportunities ensuring that Valin takes advantage of all available cash discounts, which generates signficant annual savings to the Company.

During the past year, Thomas encountered many changes in his department. The most significant was the relocation of the Accounts Payable function to the North Salt Lake, Utah office. This required Thomas to move his family and replace his department with new personnel. While Thomas was re-staffing his department in Utah, unexpected personnel changes impacted his ability to fill the open roles. While extremely short-staffed, Thomas did not let the setback compromise his department performance nor impact Valin’s ability to pay all suppliers on time and take advantage of cash discounts. Thomas simply went to work, utilizing help where available, quietly working extra hours to ensure all department needs were met. Through all this, Thomas maintained his positive and cooperative attitude supporting all Valin employees and vendors. Thomas has also supported the Accounting Team on multiple digital initiatives providing the knowledge and data required to further automate the Accounts Payable process.

Thomas is one of our quiet workhorses within Valin. He is diligent and committed to doing whatever it takes to “get the job done”. He is pleasant to work with and always maintains a calm and professional demeanor even when understaffed and constantly receiving requests for payment, confirmation, or information from internal and external sources.
