Valin made a strategic decision to relocate the panel shop from Houston, TX to Chandler, AZ. The project planner and buyer dedicated to the panel shop departed from Valin with the move, but the responsibilities remained. For a time, the Houston customer service manager performed the tasks, but when the employee left Sherry Griffin took on the responsibilities without anyone asking her to fill the gap this left. Below are some of the duties she inherited from the panel shop after the move to Arizona.
  • Expediting
  • Managing non-conforming parts: handling missing, broken, or lost inventory items, including RTV (Return to Vendor) requests.
  • Ordering replacement parts, managing open orders and allocations, entering orders into P21, and then entering new orders against the newly placed orders.
  • Re-planning and re-allocation of materials for expedited builds by outlining shortages and managing open orders or entering new ones.
  • Requesting and managing proof of deliveries from suppliers due to supply chain constraints and long lead times.
  • Receiving purchase orders into the system and being the go-to person for accounting when needing the status of an order.

She continues to perform her duties as a customer service representative for the process heat group and does the standard purchasing duties for her assigned process heat suppliers. She is doing this while filling in for the two positions that were vacated sometimes working on her own time to keep up with everything.

The past 18 months have been very difficult with material shortages. Sherry’s performance and contribution have been above expectations. Her dedication is a key component to the success of the panel shop. Sherry’s solid continual follow-up and communication have benefited Valin.

She is always willing to help with what needs to be done and has the initiative to succeed personally. She supports and helps the company continue to grow in the marketplace. She has an extremely positive attitude, treats everyone with great respect, and is a valued asset to the team.
