December 2022

Telesales
San Jose, CA
Matt Ford and Mark Horn are long-time Valin employees working in the role of Telesales. Learning from their many years with Valin and leaning on their experience in previous positions they have refined their skills and do more than take orders and input information into P21. They manage material, perform quality reviews with customer engineering teams, and troubleshoot quality complaints that require multiple Valin departments input. They took what was handed to them with zero initial guidance and molded the position into what we view as Inside Sales. They each have approximately 200+ accounts that they interact with regularly. They are in tune with their customers and have worked with many of them for a long time. They have established a great rapport with OEMs, and customers having assembliesdone in Chandler. They follow production orders from start to finish. They also provide customer quotes, track deliveries, continually review information, answer customer questions, and manage customer expectations.

Matt (right) has been more traditional Inside Sales. He has managed material obsolesce and coordinated with VES (Valin Engineered Solutions) engineering and materials to navigate ECOs (Engineered Change Orders) to reduce or eliminate barriers to completing assemblies. Matt’s efforts with Valin’s direct monitoring and engagement provide new opportunities in other products.

Mark’s (below) position is hybrid with field visits every quarter in addition to the daily phone sales. He has showcased Valin’s ability to support technical inquiries at a level where the opportunity to bid on every job for a local Air Force Base is a reality. Mark has moved Valin’s filtration lines with successes in testing filters, re-certifying capsules, and winning multi-year contracts for string wound and melt blown filters.

Matt and Mark are successful in their roles because they are proven self-starters and know how to get things done. Their extensive knowledge and understanding of Valin provides them the background to see the potential and value in other Valin employees and volunteer to mentor them. They are willing to teach others and share their experience and expertise because they feel they are building Valin for the future. There is a hybrid approach to Inside Sales that they have been a part of developing without knowing. Their successes and the ability to share the process with others are helping Valin define this team dynamic and prove the repeatability of success with the right personality and commitment to the customer. They bring many opportunities to Valin and have learned to utilize other employees’ skills to find solutions for the customer, Team Valin selling.

They continue to flourish by being 2 of the top 3 in sales within Valin for 2021 and 2 of the top 5 for 2022. Their dedication, hard work, and ability to adapt to change are essential to their continued success. Their ability to develop accounts from humble sales into 6 figure sales demonstrates their value. Matt and Mark are prepared for any challenge and know where to seek answers. There is satisfaction and security in knowing things are getting done and done right when they are involved. Matt and Mark are detail-oriented, forthcoming with information, and widely respected by customers and vendors.
