Inside Sales / Customer Service
North Salt Lake, UT
Process Heat has undergone significant change in the past year. Valin moved away from representing a large process heat supplier and toward a more traditional distributor model. This is a huge transition and affects our day-to-day activities. For the past several months Kenny Maw has been asked to rigorously examine every customer interaction and convert them wherever possible to the new process heat supplier. Kenny must understand each customer’s process, the role of the heater within the process, find the new supplier equivalent of that heater, and create a case to convince the new supplier they should quote the product. In addition, Kenny was asked to proactively call customers, inform them of the transition, and promote the Valin value-add message. He is doing all of this while learning and using the new CRM model, MS Teams, and OneNote all of which together could lead to very high stress. However, during the entire process, Kenny’s attitude has been unflappable and steady. He is always positive, embraces all challenges, and is anxious to see how these changes will drive shareholder value. He is the bedrock of the Utah office and a true leader in the trenches.

Kenny is a consistent, positive influence on the team and volunteered to be the Valin Online champion for the office as well as becoming a part of the Fluid Handling queue. He has taken a great amount of initiative to understand and work effectively in CRM and P21. He is often seen working to help a teammate enter a case or work through a difficult P21 assembly order. Kenny gives his time to work with others, while still completing his standard process heat workload.

Perhaps most compelling of all, are statements from his peers and Valin customers. It is one thing when a supervisor recognizes an individual’s contribution. When peers and customers observe his outstanding qualities, that demonstrates exceptional teamwork and leadership. Below are examples from a co-worker, a Valin customer, and a special request all supporting Kenny’s skillfulness.

Statement from a co-worker:
“He not only is an intricate part of the Process Heat Team, he also has been made the Fitting King ... He is well versed in valves and most of the strange things Robyn takes care of. He is our mentor on P21 and the go-to guy for RMAs, is part of the Web implementation team and is set up to help monitor the web orders that have issues. He is the most thorough and detail-oriented person I know. Dedicated Reliable and Trustworthy. He is my Hero.
Customer email:
I would like to compliment Kenny on the knowledge he shared and the information he provided with our requests.
A Valin Regional Sales Manager, specifically requested that Kenny be the CSR assigned to a large, upcoming heat trace order and project for a prominent customer. It will encompass significant work and need incredible attention to detail. The project will contain multiple orders with multiple ship dates on each order where mistakes can be disastrous.

Kenny’s skills and dedication make him an invaluable member of the process heat team. He always has a smile on his face and is willing to assist with the smallest project to the largest request. He quickly and efficiently acts on requests by customers and can be counted on to instantly answer questions or provide information on where to get support. Kenny Maw is one of the hardest working employees within Valin.
