Dale Stempson

August 2021

Corporate Pricing Manager
San Jose, CA
In May of 2020, Dale Stempson was part of a team that negotiated a ship from stock and credit (SFSAC) program to a Special Pricing Reduction (SPR) agreement with one of Valin’s primary automation suppliers. The change to this agreement allowed Valin to obtain a better price on products and ensure that the Pricing Team did not have to go back and collect rebates from the supplier monthly. The total impact change of shifting to the SPR agreement was over a million in annual rebates. The agreement was a big win for Valin’s bottom line and time savings for the pricing and accounting teams.

During negotiations, Valin still had inventory purchased as part of the original SFSAC program that would continue to collect rebates until the inventory levels reached zero. Dale managed the transition and brought hundreds of thousands from the remaining SFSAC program, ending the program. However, Dale took the initiative to review and analyze the inventory again. He found that Valin was eligible for additional rebates that totaled another significant amount. Dale worked with the supplier to verify and confirm the rebates he calculated. Valin received the money discovered by Dale and the SFSAC program from May 2020 was closed.

Without Dale’s self-starting attitude to dig in and question the information presented to him, Valin would have never collected the additional funds. The rebate money would have been lost with Valin being none the wiser. However, because of Dale’s inquisitive mind, Valin collected this money directly impacting our bottom line.
