BLP1 Level Sensor Probe for Harsh Environments from Barksdale

BLP1 Level Sensor Probe for Harsh Environments from BarksdaleThe level sensors BLP1 have been specifically designed for rugged use in the maritime and offshore applications.

The housing material CuNiFe, a special copper-nickel alloy, combined with various mounting options, allows for their use with a wide range of media found in maritime environments, as well as with different tank, container, and basin configurations.

Features

BLP1 Level Sensor Probe for Harsh Environments Features:

  • Accuracy acc. to IEC 60770 0.25% / 0.1% FSO
  • Level probe made of CuNiFe alloy (1.4404 on request)
  • Excellent seawater resistance
  • Installation in tank as submersible probe with cable, with stainless steel pipe or with mounting bracket
  • Installation outside the tank by means of threaded connection and optionally with adapter flange DN25 or DN50
  • Due to flush measuring diaphragm even suitable for high viscosity media (removable protection cap)
  • Low temperature error, long-term stability
  • High resistance to electrical faults (incorrect wiring, short circuit and overvoltage)
  • Rugged and reliable
  • Option: Ex II 1G Ex ia IIB T4 Ga

BLP1 Level Sensor Probe for Harsh Environments Q & A

+ What is the BLP1 “harsh environment” level sensor probe designed for?
The BLP1 is engineered for rugged use in maritime and offshore applications, with materials and design suited to tolerate corrosive, aggressive, or harsh media.
+ What is the accuracy / linearity performance?
The BLP1 meets IEC 60770 accuracy standards with a standard linearity error of ±0.25 % FSO and an optional higher precision version of ±0.10 % FSO
+ Is the BLP1 suitable for high viscosity or fouling fluids?
Yes — its flush-mounted ceramic measuring diaphragm allows better resistance to fouling, and can be protected with a removable cap for more aggressive or viscous media.
+ What is the long-term stability and temperature behavior?
The BLP1 is designed for low temperature error and good long-term stability even in maritime or offshore conditions.
+ Does the BLP1 support explosion-proof / hazardous-area operation

Yes — there is an option for Ex II 1G Ex ia IIB T4 Ga approval for hazardous (explosive) areas. However, it must only be operated in atmospheres consistent with category 1 equipment criteria (e.g. temperature -20 °C to +60 °C, pressure 0.8–1.1 bar) when in explosive environments.
