April 2025
HR and Training Generalist
Houston, TX
Britney Dunn started in June 2020 as a Customer Service Representative for the Process Heat Team in the Houston office. After a year in that position, she transitioned to a CSR Key Accounts where she spent the next two years. In May 2023, Britney transitioned to the Human Resources Department as the HR & Training Generalist. Britney stepped into the role without a formal background in Human Resources. Despite this, she has quickly learned and adapted to all aspects of HR, becoming an integral part of the team and taking on increasing responsibility with confidence and skill. Her ability to dive in, ask the right questions, and consistently deliver results speaks volumes about her work ethic and capacity to grow.
Two major initiatives the HR department has recently undertaken are implementing a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and launching Valin’s Teach Me Tuesday training initiative.
Since the start of the Workday project last August, Britney has taken a leading role in ensuring a smooth and successful transition. She worked diligently with our legacy HRIS provider to adjust the payroll processing schedule from a semi-monthly to a bi-weekly schedule. Despite receiving conflicting information from the account representative and manager regarding how (or if) the changes could be implemented, Britney took the initiative to investigate further. Through persistence and expertise, she identified a solution that worked and resulted in a flawless payroll process with zero errors. She also pulled and prepared key data from the legacy system and collaborated closely with Valin’s network of Workday champions to coordinate system testing and gather feedback. Since Workday went live, Britney has continued to provide direct support and guidance to employees as we adapt to the new platform.
In addition to her Workday efforts, Britney has taken the reins behind the scenes for the Teach Me Tuesday training initiative that launched in January 2025. She has been instrumental in driving this program forward, coordinating with internal team members to plan training content, scheduling practice runs, managing communications, and handling registration. Her organization, follow-through, and enthusiasm have helped build momentum and engagement around this important initiative.
In addition to the initiatives, when a recent new hire reached out to Britney late one night with questions concerning their benefits as they were in the emergency room with their 2 year old son, Britney provided an immediate response with the information they needed.
Britney’s dedication, detailed attention, and collaborative spirit have made a lasting impact on Valin’s HR systems and our employee development efforts. Her contributions are a perfect example of leadership in action.
