Series 290 Angle Body Multi-Purpose Valves from ASCO™

The ASCO Series 290, also known as 8290, is a pressure-operated, direct-acting angle-body piston solenoid valve built for demanding applications. Its straight-through body design is available in bronze or stainless steel. The valve is suitable for general service applications (air, inert gas, water, oil, and light slurries), plus steam, hot water, and auxiliary fluids within the food and beverage industry. Many optional features are available including a visual/electrical position indicator or a stroke limiter.

Series 290 Pneumatic Operated

Series 290, Pneumatic Operated:

The Series 290 consists of 2-way direct-acting valves available in normally closed or normally open constructions. Built for demanding applications, these valves come in a straight-through body design made of bronze or stainless steel. There are many optional features including visual/ electrical position indicator or a stroke limiter.

Series 290, Pneumatic Operated Applications:
  • General Service (air, inert gas, water, oil, light slurries)
  • Steam and Hot Water
  • Auxiliary fluids within the food and beverage process (suffix “FB”)

Series 290, Motorized:

Series 290 Motorized angle body valve is offered in the size ranges of 3/8”, ½” and ¾” Normally Closed and electrically operated with voltage ranges 24 VDC, 110 to 250V / 50-60 Hz and 24 to 40V / 50-60 Hz

Series 290 Motorized Features:
  • High flow due to angled seat design
  • Anti-water hammer design (fluid entry under the disc)
  • Actuator rotatable through 360˚
  • 2-way normally closed operation
  • Fluid isolation between electrical actuator and valve body
  • LEDs identify valve position and status
  • Vacuum service up to 7 x 10-3 Torr
  • RoHS 2 compliant
  • Ideal for “Lead Free” applications
  • Feedback signal for 24 VDC and 24 to 48 AC

Series 290 with Digital Positioner

Series 290 with Digital Positioner:

The valve is operated by the Digital Positioner depending on the setpoint and feedback. The valve and the actuator are NC-type. It closes when no pilot pressure is supplied by the Digital Positioner to the actuator. The valve opens when the Digital Positioner supplies a pilot pressure. On loss of power the valve returns to its close position, or the position is maintained depending on the version.

Series 290 with Digital Positioner Features:
  • Precise, quick-acting and robust valve suitable for use in outside industrial environments
  • Exceptional long service life
  • Real-time control
  • Ready-to-use valve
  • The Digital Positioner can be directly connected to an external sensor (double loop control)
  • Power saving function and no air consumption when position is reached
  • Manual valve operator
  • LED indicators for valve status display
  • IO-Link® class A communication protocol for setpoint, feedback and parameters data

Series 290 Proportional Valves with Positioner

Series 290 Proportional Valves with Positioner:

The 290 series is offered with variable flow proportional to the control signal (open loop) and offers a Position feedback signal for optimal flow control.

Series 290 Proportional Valves with Positioner Features:
  • Variable flow proportional to the control signal (open loop)
  • Closed loop control via external process sensor
  • Fail-close construction: Valve closes upon loss of power
  • Supplied factory-assembled
  • LED indicators for valve status display
  • Manual opening and closing function
  • Position feedback signal for optimal flow control

Series 314 and 356 Pilot Valves

Series 314 and 356 to Pilot the 290 Pneumatic Operated Valves:

Series 314 and 356 Solenoid Pilot Valves:
  • Compact design and low weight enable easy installation on all series 290 and 390 valves with 90 and 125 mm operators
  • Manual operator allows easy installation (series 314 )
  • Pilot 356: AC/DC interchangeability of the solenoid without disassembly of the valve
  • Compliance with UL and CSA standards (pilot valve series 356 coupling)
  • UL429 and EN 60335 certified
  • The series 314 pilot solenoid valves satisfy all relevant EU Directives
  • The series 356 pilot solenoid valves satisfy all relevant EU and EAC directives
