Load Pins from WIKA

WIKA Load Pins with Thin Film TechnologyWIKA load pins are engineered for both static and dynamic force measurement and are designed to replace non-measuring bolts or pins directly. By integrating seamlessly into existing mechanical structures, they accurately measure tension and compression forces without requiring system redesign.

Manufactured from high-strength, corrosion-resistant stainless steel (1.4542), WIKA load pins are built to perform reliably under harsh operating conditions. They support multiple output options, including standard analog signals such as 4–20 mA and 0–10 V, as well as digital communication via CANopen®. Redundant signal outputs are also available for increased system reliability.

For safety-critical applications, WIKA load pins can be integrated into a certified overload protection system using the WIKA ELMS1, compliant with DIN EN ISO 13849-1 up to Performance Level d / Category 3, providing an added layer of protection for demanding industrial environments.

Load Pin Q & A

+ What is a load pin and how does it work?
A load pin is a force sensor that replaces a standard mechanical pin and measures load using internal strain gauges. As force is applied, the strain gauges detect deformation and convert it into an electrical signal that represents the applied load in real time.

+ What industries commonly use WIKA load pins?
WIKA load pins are widely used in crane and hoist systems, material handling equipment, offshore and marine applications, construction machinery, and industrial automation, where accurate load monitoring improves safety and performance.
+ How accurate are WIKA load pins?
WIKA load pins are designed for high accuracy and long-term stability, with performance suitable for safety-critical and process control applications. Accuracy depends on the model, load range, and installation conditions; all sensors are factory-calibrated.

+ Can WIKA load pins be customized for my application?
Yes. WIKA offers application-specific load pin designs, including custom diameters, lengths, load ranges, and environmental protections. Custom solutions are ideal for OEMs and specialized industrial equipment.

+ How do I choose the correct load pin size and capacity?
Selecting the right load pin depends on maximum load, safety factor, mounting dimensions, environmental conditions, and signal requirements. Valin’s technical specialists can help evaluate your application and recommend the correct WIKA load pin solution.
