Greg McFerren joined Valin through the Dynamic Solutions (DSI) acquisition in May 2024. From the start, he has been laser-focused on elevating Valin’s product offerings in Google search results. For more than 20 years, Greg helped DSI achieve success by maintaining a strong focus on high-precision linear mechanics for high-performance motion control applications. His attention to this area has helped drive a strategic, focused marketing effort that includes content development, search engine optimization (SEO), AI engine optimization, targeted customer lists, and even a traditional direct mail campaign. The products are highly specialized, and the strategy is intentionally long term.
Greg’s efforts demonstrate how to leverage SEO to achieve first-page Google rankings and use generative AI to position Valin as a trusted resource. He accomplished this by asking questions and refusing to settle for the status quo. When Greg identified resources that were not previously available at DSI, he proactively engaged them for marketing support, content development, and SEO tools. Additional resources were brought in for software and specialized expertise. He encouraged the team to learn and adopt AI tools to work more efficiently and effectively.
Greg’s leadership brought Valin’s strong marketing team and their expertise together by driving a deep focus within a highly specific product area to improve the company’s Google positioning, expecting it to generate new leads and customers. The team enhanced the Valin and Valin Online websites with tabbed product pages, collapsible Q&A sections, new subcategory product pages, stronger and more targeted blogs, added CAD files, developed regionally focused content, and built eConfigurators for several product lines. This summary does not capture every contributor or improvement made, but the work is ongoing and will continue to expand.
A year ago, Valin was nowhere near the first page of Google for our initial target term. Today, Valin ranks in the top three results. For a broader and more competitive search phrase, Valin has moved from not appearing in results at all to landing on the first page. Greg leads this effort with professionalism and a strong team-building approach, making him easy to work with while clearly demonstrating the value and impact of the DSI acquisition.
