Sean Graf has demonstrated exceptional performance since joining Valin through the Sun Automation acquisition. Taking on a newly assigned territory, Sean quickly earned the customer’s respect through consistent engagement, exceptional service, and bringing renewed energy to the region. His knowledge of automation-related brands has made him a reliable and effective account manager, benefiting Valin by securing new business opportunities.
Sean’s dedication and strategic approach are most evident in his work with a customer who builds custom electrical control panels. When they first approached Valin about variable frequency drives (VFDs), Sean quickly built a strong relationship with the CEO, who valued the durability and reliability of the products from a prominent industrial automation manufacturer. Through Sean’s persistence and diligence, purchase orders grew from initial batches of 15-20 VFDs to over 200-300 units per order. This consistent performance established Sean as a trusted partner, even during challenges when the customer temporarily sourced drives through China. Despite these setbacks, Sean maintained a steady approach and eventually secured the customer’s commitment to purchasing VFDs from Valin.
Sean's ability to cultivate relationships continued when the Chief Operating Officer began managing the company. Despite logistical hurdles-such as conducting product overviews at a coffee shop due to an AC failure-Sean effectively demonstrated the value of a top-tier technology supplier. The COO and the materials manager recognized how this supplier’s solutions streamlined their builds, resulting in a successful transition away from a competitor’s products. The partnership deepened as the COO began specifying these components for larger projects, including high-value jobs and overseas panel shop builds. As a result, the customer has grown to generate a substantial revenue stream and is on track to double or triple that figure this year, with a long-term goal of increasing it fivefold within five years.
Sean’s consistent ability to strengthen relationships, secure new business opportunities, and provide solutions tailored to customer needs has been instrumental in Valin’s growth. He actively seeks to connect with colleagues throughout the company, recognizing that building strong internal relationships is essential for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and driving business success. By fostering these connections and leveraging resources effectively, Sean continues to contribute to Valin’s overall success-strengthening the company's presence in the market and ensuring customers have access to the most efficient and advanced solutions.
