Dave Fahlgren is deserving of recognition for his significant contributions to the successful multi-million REC Shaanxi valve project. The project spanned from early 2015 through July 2017 with Dave involved in all facets of the job. Early in the process he led the customer service team in providing engineering, technical, and bid support in pursuit of the sale. After the order was secured, without being prompted, Dave became the “quarterback” of the project from the operations side. He took the lead in preparing the Portland facility to assemble 1,200 valves by coordinating the rental and modification of additional warehouse space. He developed a manpower forecast and production plan for valve assembly continually adjusting to overcome factory delays and product quality issues. When unplanned manpower shortages arose, Dave quickly adapted to the challenge. In addition to managing multiple departments within Valin, he also effectively found and integrated a third-party logistics company to the schedule for crating and ocean container load out. Throughout the fourteen months of valve assembly, Dave tracked the minute details to ensure the entire project was documented properly and shipped complete.

On a day to day basis, Dave is the glue that holds the Portland process control business unit together, but in this case, he truly took his performance to a new level. Prior to this project, Valin did not have a roadmap for processing an order of this size. Dave instinctively knew the steps required and performed them flawlessly while maintaining his day to day responsibilities.
