Installed Gain as a Control Valve Selection Criterion

This one hour webinar explains the meaning of control valve installed gain and the benefits of using an installed gain analysis to select a control valve that will be able to control well in a particular system. Recommended installed gain criteria are presented and an example application is shown, where the best valve for the application is selected using the Metso Nelprof® control valve sizing and selection software and its unique ability to perform installed gain analysis. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion in the mail.

Who should attend?

Technicians and engineers who want to specify control valves that will do the best possible job of controlling, or who need to determine if an improperly selected control valve is the cause of poor control.

Agenda

  • Inherent flow characteristics
  • Effect of the system - installed flow characteristics
  • The meaning and importance of installed gain
  • Example of using the installed gain to select the best control valve

The speaker, Dr. Jon F. Monsen, PE, is a Control Valve Technology Specialist at Valin Corporation where he specializes in training, control valve applications, and smart digital products. Prior to joining Valin, he was a technology specialist at Metro Automation (parent company of Neles and Jamesbury) for 25 years.
