The Motion Control Show
For my 30th episode, I thought I'd celebrate by sharing a little bit of the goofs and fun and laughter and jokes and frustration that we've had along the way. I'm Corey Foster at Valin Corporation, let's see what we can screw up.
If you haven't noticed, catalog specs are not always straight as forward as they appear, and my nose itches. {itches nose}
So, there's no connection between this clip {phone vibrating} and… Good timing for a phone call, don't you think? {vibrating continues}
And see if it does perform well enough. {coughs} You could do it by suggestion. Suggesting somebody can suggest an EMC filter for you.
{voices in the background} Wait for my family to stop talking. {waits patiently}
At least one mains filter manufacturer I know of will give you suggestions…
Based upon the testing that they've done before. {notification alert} LinkedIn. {sighs}
At least one drive manufac…{clears throat}
A drive, {inaudible gibberish}
Michael Reynaud is going to show you a visual of the difference of a linear motor {inaudible gibberish}
I'm going to have Michael Reynaud show you a visual difference between the linear Motors and {inaudible} {claps in frustration}
The linear encoders… Darn it! That was out of order.
I'm going to talk a {sighs} about them a little bit, um, and, you know first let's, answer that question. What is feedback?
Now, you may be running your {DING DING} mechanics. "Ding, ding!" That must be for me.
RAY: But what we really think you need is repeatability, so they correct them but that part's all sh… we don't want to say {Ray mumbles} {Corey laughs} Cut that out.
COREY: Ah, that'll go on the blooper reel. {both laugh and now we all know Corey was right}
RAY: {mumbles}
-load. {DING} To that end, I've asked one of our senior Application Engineers Kent Martins {ding again} to…{clears throat and grunts in frustration}
I've talked to… {clears throat}
TOM: Um, at that point I… time out. {both laugh} Uh, how accurate, huh? {Corey laughs} {Tom chuckles}
{Corey clears throat} COREY: Heh {mumbles} curlys. {Corey sighs}
COREY: So Ray, when was the last time the customer gave you all the information you needed in order to put together a mechanical system for, for them?
RAY: I don't remember the exact time it was, but I know it was right before I saw a Unicorn. {Corey laughs} They uh, that almost never happens either.
COREY: Almost? {Ray laughs}
RAY: Sometimes you could see a Unicorn, {Ray laughs again} but customers will never give you all the information.
COREY: {through laughter} Ah, thanks Ray. All right.
COREY: Bruce, do customers ever give you all the information you need in order to be able to put together a mechanical system for them?
BRUCE: {Bruce chuckles} Um, I can't really say that that's ever happened. Um… {thoughtful pause} I don't really know what else to say. {both laugh}
COREY: Kent, when was the last time that a customer gave you all the information you needed in order to size and select mechanical mechanics for them?
KENT: All the information on the first attempt?
COREY: Mhm.
KENT: Uh, probably never. {Corey chuckles}
-position, uh, leveling, uh, le-level Micron level positioning. Let's try that again.
I'm Corey Foster at Valin Corporation, let's see what we can learn. {disappointment}
