Crude oil is sold on the basis of temperature, API Gravity, and the BS&W content so it is very important to have accurate measurements of the amount of water and sediment in your product stream. The quality of oil is measured by a BS&W probe. The probe measures the free water, sediment, and emulsion in the oil as a volume percentage of the production stream. The probe detects entrained water content by measuring its capacitance reactance and comparing it to the dielectric (degree of conductivity) constant of oil. Typically the probes are set up to read 0-3% water content and can generally measure that value within +/- 0.05% - 0.25%. The probe range is dependent on the instrument itself and the operating conditions and are capable of providing continuous measurement.
Valin offers the following BS&W Monitor Services:
Valin has established field service centers in West Texas, Central/Southern California, San Juan Basin, Colorado, Bakken and Eagleford areas and we have the ability to provide services in most of the oil producing areas of the western United States.
